It began as a joke. We invited our nearby relatives, our kids and their significant others, a few of their friends, our nephew and his wife who had recently moved to the Boston area, and our "soon to be... in-laws ," down to the Beach House for a pre-Thanksgiving dinner. We loved it!!
It is a relaxed day of fun with a Yankee Swap thrown in. It's more about the getting together than the food. The food does make it fun!
So for a Fake holiday.... It's become very real to us now. It's the day when we celebrate OUR family. Our little family that has grown. We've welcomed the addition of our wonderful extended families, the in-laws, and I say that with sincerity and GREAT affection. We've watched as the Fake Thanksgiving announcement (the famous ultra-sound) has made her way to the BIG table with all of us. Welcome Aliza! It's gotten smaller with the move of Ted and Melissa (and new baby Elle) out to Cincinnati, OH.-we miss you. We missed our nieces Diana and Laura and hope to have them come next year.
Thanks everyone- for sharing a day with us.
