The drive was easy, we were on time and so were they.
The Departments were overcrowded, filled with anxious people, but we were calm.
There was barely enough time between the scan and our Oncology appointment to have breakfast, our usual routine for mornings in Boston.
Dr. J walked in (right on time) with his usual smile, but then he said something different.
"Tell me that you've been sick recently." He asked hopefully.
It turns out that we're hoping for a diagnosis of pneumonia. That's what we want.
That would be great!?!

The CT scan shows something. The CT scan images were set up for us. Dr. J explains what we're looking at- as he slices through the layers of the scan on his computer. It looked like a pneumonia to me too, but it's hard for us to tell. It's hard for even for the well trained eye of Dr. J.
So it's decided. After a series of antibiotics a "big" scan (PET/CT) will be done next month.

It's been a long winter filled with lots of upper respiratory garbage, shared by and with all of our loved ones. I'm sure that's what it is. But we'll have to wait for 3 weeks to be re-scanned to know for sure. Until then... we wait and wonder. Things were getting too relaxed, too easy and almost normal.
Time to stir things up a bit I guess.
