Family Fun during a FROZEN January weekend

The weather was cold (near zero) but the weekend couldn't have been warmer!
We flew to Cincinnati last Friday to visit our nephew and his wife and to see their new home. They had been transferred out there from Boston and we had planned to go visit them shortly after they moved in. We were side tracked by "that cancer thing" that I talk about from time to time.

This weekend was a combo weekend. We also had been invited to attend a family wedding in the same city. How convenient and wonderful that would turn out to be. We were really in need of a big injection of love and excitement.

As I said, we took a direct flight to Covington, Kentucky and the rest was just FUN!! Ted picked us up at the airport and we rode over to see their new home. The new home is warm and charming. It's catalog pretty. It is minutes from the hippest little downtown where we walked to a fabulous dinner. My sister and her husband drove down from Michigan to see us. I never get to see her. It is way too long between visits. It was the most special night and there was birthday cake and presents too! I miss my sister. We finally got to meet "Gracie", their bulldog puppy. Time went too fast and the night was over too quickly.
The next day was the wedding. The kids had planned and paid for it all themselves, keeping it within their own budget. It took place in a lovely old Episcopal Church in Covington where Jane sings in the choir. The all of the members of her church choir were present for their ceremony and sang at the wedding. It was "goose bump" beautiful.
The reception was held in the historic churches reception hall and was picture perfect. They were glowing with happiness. Later that evening we all met for a gourmet French dinner in Cincinnati at the Jean Ro Bistro, YUM!! This was a gift from the brides parents for the wedding guests.
The weekend was a brief vacation too- the hotel had a brand new, heated pool. So we went down to swim every morning, just for some exercise and it turned out to be... more FUN!
Sunday morning we all gathered to celebrate a brunch that turned out to be... in
honor of OUR 34 th Wedding Anniversary.
What a treat. As I said, family fun during a Frozen January weekend was as exciting as a trip to the Caribbean. A direct flight back home ended our brief weekend getaway. :o(
